ABOUT CRAFTY GEORGE

Hello and welcome! I’m Debs,  but my nickname since school is George, which is why I decided to call my business Crafty George.

 

I originally trained in art and ceramics, but ended up focusing on a management job to pay the bills when the children were young, whilst always thinking I would return to pottery later in life.  During this time however I attended evening classes to learn how to make stained glass, originally with the aim of restoring the damaged stained glass windows in my own house.  This then expanded into making copper foiled stained glass ornaments and more recently, after purchasing a kiln, fused glass as well. Glass is the most fantastic material to work with, and any desire I once had to be a potter has been surpassed by the drive to make and restore beautiful stained glass.

 

In 2023 I finally took the plunge and left my corporate job in order to set up my own business and I am now fortunate enough to have workshops both at home and at The British Ironworks near Oswestry.
